2014 picture of the year | jill heupel photography

I had a hard time narrowing down pictures for this contest this year. I have had so many great shoots with so many dear people in 2014. I would love to include everyone, but this post would go for days. If you were not included, and would like to be included, please message me. I have a favorite shot from each photo shoot and would be happy to add more. I do not include mini session customers in the Picture of the Year shoot.

Voting can only be done by people who “Like” Jill Heupel Photography on facebook. Likes and comments count as votes. You can also vote by emailing me and letting me know which pictures you are voting for. You can vote for any and all pictures HERE.

What does the winner get?

1. A $50 gift card to Brevan’s Patisserie in Edwardsville.

2. A mini session, which includes the rights to all of the edited pictures taken at that session. (Session must be used before May, 2015.)

3. A picture from the winning session will be featured in the Jill Heupel Photography storefront window display. If I have already featured a picture from the winning session in the window, you will get that picture to keep.

4. Winner gets to keep the large picture (20×30) that is used in the downtown window display.

This is in no way affiliated with facebook. This is a small way to thank my customers for a wonderful year of sessions.

Thanks again for another great year of family, newborn, senior and animal shoots!

Mini sessions 2014 | Jill Heupel Photography

We have a great location picked out this year, and we couldn’t be more excited.  Last year’s minis were so much fun and we had an amazing group of families.  Be sure to sign up quickly to reserve your spot!  Dates are November 29th and November 30th.

As usual, the packages are all digital so you can use them for Christmas cards and gifts.

A non-refundable deposit of $50 will be required to hold your date.  This amount is then applied to your digital package.  You can email Jill to reserve your spot- jill.heupel@gmail.com

Some FAQs –

How many images will I receive?

In the past years, my customers have gotten 20 to 30 images from their shoot.  This number depends a lot on timeliness and cooperation.  I have never given less than 18 images.

How quickly will I receive my images?

All mini sessions will be delivered (via an email link) within one week.  Most sessions are delivered even sooner.

Where will the mini sessions be?

This year, the sessions are taking place in a wooded, natrural setting.  There are three locations that I am choosing between, and the final decision will be made the week of the shoot, once we know what the weather will be like.

When will I know my time slot?

We will finalize the times the week of the shoots.

Why would the sessions be postponed?

We will only postpone for extreme wind chill, bad wind, or rain.  If it is cloudy or snowy (please let it snow!!!), we will go ahead with the shoots.

When is the rain date?

The rain date is the following weekend, December 6th and December 7th.

Can I bring the dog?

You can bring the dog, but this will cut back on the number of images you receive.  Working with the family dog is fun, but at a time sensitive shoot, it can take away from the people photographs.

newest addition to the K family | jill heupel photography

Newborn sessions are among my favorites.  Working with me, every newborn session is different from the last.  There is a style of newborn photography that has been popular for a few years which involves prop, blankets, hats and naked babies.  There are some photographers who are amazing with these set-ups, but this style of newborn photography is just not me.  I have learned over the years that my best work is when I am shooting images that I would like.  Images I wish I would have had of my own babies or at my own wedding.  My newborn sessions have a classic, timeless feel.  I don’t want your pictures to be outdated by anything in them.  Unlike 90s hair (guilty), I want my images to hold the test of time.

Let me introduce the K family.  For their newborn session, I met them at the hospital the morning after little Josie was born.  I got there before big brother Jax came to meet his new little sister.

Shortly after these were taken, little Jax arrived to meet his sister.  Grandma was there too, so we got her in on the action.

After their hospital shoot, I was able to meet them at their home for a few more family pictures.  Normally, this happens in the next few weeks.  With the K family, though, we had rain delay after rain delay.  So Josie is 2 months old here!

As with every photography session you schedule, you should find a photographer whose vision is close to what you are wanting to have on your walls for many years.  I understand that I am not the photographer for everyone’s aesthetic.  Do your research!  It will pay off in the end.

Thanks K family for trusting me with the images from Josie’s first few hours and days!
