After getting rained out for Caitlin’s first session, we hit one of the nicest evenings of the summer for her make-up date. Caitlin’s session was photographed at her family’s pond. Congratulations on senior year, Caitlin!

Another gorgeous wedding… Ben and Kelly.
Everything about this wedding was awesome. The first look made me misty eyed. The gifts they exchanged were so sweet. The details that Kelly incorporated in the day (thank you ETSY!). The Wild Basin Lodge, who hosted the event. The signiture drinks and the cookie bar. Not even the light rain that fell during the ceremony dampened anyone’s mood.
Kelly, I have to apologize for photo bombing your wedding video. It was totally unintentional… Grandpa Lou cornered us.
I missed the puppies, but every wonderful detail about your wedding was perfect. Thanks for everything and many, many blessings on your future together!

Jill, I cannot thank you enough! I received your text message that the photos were up while I was driving. I couldn’t wait until I got home, so I pulled into a parking lot and viewed them on my phone. A little eager? 😉 Then, I had to wait to drive again until the tears dried because these pictures ARE. JUST. BEAUTIFUL. What amazes me more is the emotions you managed to capture in each photo. I don’t think I’ll forget a single minute of that day, and these pictures allows me to relive them over and over again. You are so gifted. I am completely touched. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
P.S. I love that Grandpa Lou is lurking in the background of the one with Little D! Video camera and all!
I don’t even know where to begin. There are just no words to describe the magnificent photos you took. You definitely have a special talent. I was just in awe as I looked at them through tear filled eyes. Kelly and Ben told me how special you are and they were certainly right. Thank you for doing such an amazing job. I can’t wait to see their album!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! You truely captured the special moments and love being shared by all!

You would never know it from looking at these two, but the heat index was 105 degrees on their wedding day. A hundred and five.
We still did almost everything outside, and they kept poised and relaxed through it all.
John and Ashley, many congratulations on your wedding!

I believe that every single moment, thought, emotion that you experience on your wedding day is something to be marked and remembered. When I am shooting a wedding, my team and I work hard to get every part of the day.
I do feel that there is one area of wedding photography that is the most important though. Pictures of the bride and groom.
While all of your pictures will be looked at occasionally, portraits of the couple will hang in your home for the rest of your life. And some day, when your great-grand-daughter gets married, she will want a framed wedding picture from your wedding day to place in a special spot.
Working with the bride and groom alone is the part of the wedding day that I anticipate and get excited about. I like to have at least 30 minutes with just the bride and groom together. I try to shoo away the wedding party and Aunt Erma who likely could put together an album of just me, for all of the pictures she has taken so far. My time with the couple is easily transformed into a time for the two of them to slow down, to chat a bit, to savor the newness of their family.
My last post covered Anna and Chris’ gorgeous Seattle wedding. I left out pictures of just the bride and groom, knowing that I wanted to really show the extent of what their couple session included. We were tight on time at their wedding. I only had 1 hour after the ceremony before they needed to be at the reception. We did separate portraits before hand and just had to do families and wedding party before I could work with just the couple.
And here they are… Gorgeous Anna and handsome Chris.
We did a first moment with this couple. Chris did not see Anna until she walked down the aisle, but they did spend a few minutes together before the ceremony.

If I had known, 18 years ago, that I would be photographing Anna’s wedding day in the future, I would have taken notes. I would have noted her favorite {4 year old} color. I would have remembered when she played dress-up and what her very favorite {4 year old} item to wear was. I would have remembered the silly way I put her to bed when I was babysitting and how her four year old self giggled and giggled. I would remember the way she looked at her new baby brother, sometimes in awe and sometimes not so much. I would have remembered more about how she was completely loved by her family.
I am truly honored to have been asked to come to Seattle to photograph this wedding.
The toast would have been awesome, but the photographer is not generally added to the toast list. So those memories are hers and mine, Jake’s, and her parents. I cherish them all.
Anna and Chris have been together for a long time. This wedding has been a count down for their families and for the couple. And it was amazing. You won’t see formal pictures of the bride and groom. I have decided to spilt that into two posts. There are just too many neat moments and details to put it all in one post.
I hope you enjoy Anna and Chris’ wedding day…
Seeing her Dad for the first time…
Chris and Anna decided to have a moment together before the wedding. They kept the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride.
And one of Anna and I.
What a day! Blessings on your future together, Chris and Anna!
